Shredded
bark, mulch, wood chips, fine sand or fine gravel are considered to be
acceptable shock absorbing surfaces when installed and maintained at a
sufficient depth under and around playground equipment.
Premier
Play Systems, LLC strongly recommends that a shock absorbing material should
extend a minimum of 6 ft in all directions from the perimeter of stationary
equipment such as climbers and slides. However, because children may deliberately jump from a moving swing, the
shock absorbing material should extend in the front and rear of a swing a
minimum distance of 16’. The depth
of the material you choose should be based on the following: (The red number represent the
maximum height of the platform of the gym. Premier Play Systems, LLC’s basic gyms are 5’ high. With the addition of a Side Deck our
highest platform is 7’)

Be
sure to place equipment on level ground. If installing the play structure on your own, an unleveled surface will
prohibit the set from going together smoothly. When hiring contractors or installers,
they will charge an hourly fee for leveling off the area. Consult your dealer for layout upon
purchasing your unit.
Do
not let children play on the set until it is fully
assembled.
Premier
Play Systems, LLC also recommends the following guidelines to keep your children
free from injury:
- On-site
supervision of children
- Instruct
children not to use the equipment in a manner other than intended
- When
Monkey bars are in use, swings and other accessories should be
removed
- Children
should never crawl or walk across Monkey Bars
- Dress
children appropriately—avoid scarves, hooded sweatshirts and other loose
clothing
- Children
should not walk close to, in front of, behind, or between moving
items
- Periodically
check the set as suggested in the Maintenance Tips of the Handbook.
